Ring Magazine KO of the year
December 26, 2007The Ring Magazine is the premiere boxing publication in the world today. Since 1922, boxing aficionados have very much regarded The Ring as the “Bible of Boxing”. Every year, the magazine gives awards for different boxing categories. Filipino IBF Flyweight World Champion Nonito Donaire has been awarded by The Ring in two categories:
Knockout of the Year: Nonito Donaire KO 5 Vic Darchinyan
Upset of the Year: Nonito Donaire KO 5 Vic Darchinyan
Coming to the fight as the heavy underdog, Donaire has produced a stunning victory over previously undefeated champion Vic Darchinyan. His performance has been hailed by many critics as nothing short of impressive. The knockout was a perfectly timed, vicious left hook that sent the champion sprawling on the canvas. Press play to see poetry in motion:
Great, great bikini race!
December 23, 2007In my opinion, this “sport” is a very unique and interestingly good race that should be in the Olympics. This race can be shown not just at Hollywood Park. People will pay for these kinds of races and the boys will subscribe to pay-per-view just to catch a glimpse. Kidding aside, this will never be included in the Olympics even after a hundred years. But it’s fun to watch.
Oscar dela Hoya in drag
December 18, 2007You know who this guy is. Even a lot of girls know him for his good Mexican – American features. He is the Ring Magazine’s Fighter of the Year in 1995 and the “Pound for Pound” best boxer in the world in 1997. He has been a world champion in six different weight classes and has almost won a split decision last May against the current best fighter in the world, Floyd Mayweather Jr. He has a record album and a clothing line and is the most recognizable boxer in the world today. His fights have earned the most in ticket sales and pay-per-view buys in history. The name is Oscar dela Hoya.
Everyone wants to be this guy. He is the epitome of being a macho man in the sport. But what if you see him in very unglamorous circumstances? Will you still continue idolizing this boxing icon who is the richest fighter of all-time? Well, thanks to X17online.com there are photos wherein you could him in a not-so-macho position.
What do you think? Is it "Photoshopped"?

Racing, anyone?
December 12, 2007I have never been a fan of motor racing. Racing that makes use of human strength and determination like the Tour de France had me watching the sports news, however. Lance Armstrong and a pool of other amazing professionals climb steep hills and pedal long stretches of asphalt for hours is an admiring sight. Motor racing takes the back seat in my excitement level compared to other sports. I don’t think I’ll ever be a convert and watch live races. And please spare me from horse racing. But by some twist of fate, the waves of the internet had me surfing over to Asian Formula 3 and its incredible section named “Babes”. Now what did Babes had to do with racing? As they say, pictures say a thousand words.
Another chess post for the boys!
December 11, 2007I’m sure guys wouldn’t like one bit if they were beaten on the board by a lady. But I’m sure if they’ll mind if they get their asses whipped by these women grandmasters. Mind you, they’re world-rated and you wouldn’t stand a chance against them unless you’re a grandmaster yourself! Photos by Kosteniuk.com

I was wrong
December 10, 2007I have never been happier to be wrong in my predictions. I have said before that Top Rank and Golden Boy would never pick Juan Manuel Marquez to be Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent on March 15. David Diaz is the businessman’s choice because Diaz, according to experts, is somewhat beatable and is at a higher weight division (lightweight) than where Pacquiao currently is (super featherweight). The general rule is, thought is doesn’t always apply, is that the higher weight class pays much more. I am happy because the score will now finally be settled between these two fighters. Marquez is the only Mexican that Pacquiao has fought who didn’t get beaten. The draw has been on the minds of many fight fans finally will now have closure come the ides of March. No need to pay per view!
Did you learn about how Sky Cable sank the hearts of those fight fans who gladly paid premium cinemas in the Metro to watch a good pay-per-view fight and how they gave joy to thousands of others who were just at home? The Mayweather-Hatton megabuck fight costs around 500 pesos to see at SM Megamall, Powerplant Cinema and Gateway Cineplex. Based on my experience watching Pacquiao fights at the cinema, the money I’ll pay so I could just not agonize myself with twenty commercials in a row in between rounds is worth the price of the seat. But to the surprise of many, Sky has shown the fight LIVE on Channel 33 (Balls). Now who in their right mind would pay good money and watch the fight live outside your home if you could watch it in complete comfort at home for FREE?? That’s right, nobody! Of course, this doesn’t apply if you have another cable provider. But for the great percentage of cable subscribers who chose Sky, you know what I mean. They bamboozled those poor aficionados who had Sky at home and had them pay something which can be had for free. This is injustice for the fight fan who has given away their good, hard-earned money when it couldn’t have been converted to a case of San Mig light.
