PPV is here!
October 30, 2007You heard that right. In a third world country where Pay Per View on cable is virtually non-existent for home users, a more practical alternative on the world wide web can now be accessible to the typical Pinoy fight fan. Netvision is a source for finding quality sports shows that can be seen online for a minimal fee that's a tenth of a cost of a usual PPV card. Its first local sporting event of national interest is Boom Boom Bautista's fight versus Mexican toughie Antonio Meza. This spectacle will also feature AJ Banal and Nonito Donaire.
Sony Vaio
October 29, 2007I got one of the most pleasant surprises ever when my mom gave me a Sony VAIO as an early Christmas gift. I have never planned on getting a laptop because I am already happy with the desktop at home. Although I never would in any way not accept this piece of equipment. This can really help me watch PPV fights when I’m on the road, as long as there is wi-fi. There are many VAIO models and mine is not exactly top of the line, but nonetheless, I got a brand new one for free.
OneCare
October 26, 2007I’ve read a few reviews saying that the antivirus part of Windows OneCare, Defender, is not exactly at par with the long time big boys McAfee, Norton and Trend Micro. Though it’s still new, I’m sure it will pick up steam in the coming months because is the recommended internet security program of Microsoft. That being said, it should have at least or be near the level of scanning the others are on. Antivirus is all about malware detection. According to the test of AV-test.org, it failed to detect 14 out of 1690 common, publicly known viruses. We all want our software to get 100 percent here because 1 good virus is enough to wipe out the hard drive. In my own humble opinion, let’s stick around wait with the ones with proven track records before we jump ship.
Sopcast3
October 22, 2007Then it all made sense. I saw the light on how his brother was able to tell us how the Pacquiao – Solis fight ended. He must have had Sopcast on his PC and watched it in complete happiness while silently muttering to himself how ignorant a fight fan I am. You can watch a variety of other programs and not just sports. Sopcast ain’t giving me a single dime for these posts. I’m just spreading the love and sharing the information for all the aficionados out there. Let’s not go through the agonizing ways of free TV ever again. Let’s all watch it live!
It must be the weather
October 19, 2007Christmas season is fast approaching. Everyone can feel the cold breeze coming from the windows during mornings. Wearing socks at bedtime seem to be a usual habit these days. Snuggling up and tightening that grip on my pillow can be so pleasurable during these cold times. Is it me or the weather? Those thoughts just keep on coming. How can you not think of having your girl beside with you cuddling you up while you stroke her hair and kiss her neck? Haha. It’s the weather….
Biking dilemma
October 18, 2007Riding my bike has always been one of the main proponents of my weight-loss program. It’s been a while since I’ve had the legs of very good cyclist. Nowadays it has been very difficult to ride and imitate the rider of years ago but I’m trying. I want to return those legs I previously had. But how can you try and ride an exhausting but pleasurable trip when your tires bum out on you? I have bought my bike for a price that’s only a fraction of my old and broken, but seemingly more durable bike. It’s a painful lesson that the universe is teaching me again for I fail to listen: Don’t compromise for something you love.
Sopcast
October 15, 2007It was another Pacman fight with the undefeated Jorge Solis as his opponent. My girlfriend and I were patiently watching the fight at their house with twenty plus commercials in between rounds. Suddenly, while still in the early rounds, his brother comes out of his room and unexpectedly blurts out the round Solis was knocked out complete with graphic details. Such is the dilemma of a true fight fan when he watches fights that are hours late. Nobody wants to hear what happens in the end especially if one has invested much of his time waiting for the results on free TV. How can we get around this when not all fight fans have the resources to watch a PPV fight live?
Destined to bum out?
October 4, 2007I have been a Destiny Cable internet subscriber for about a month now. I have no rants about the speed they are giving me. I am satisfied with the 1 MBPS that flows out from their Motorola modem. What has happened in the past that seems odd is that when I’ve tried to connect during very early morning, say 3AM, it doesn’t get a valid IP address. This has happened thrice now and from what I understand, you could all day, 24/7 if you wish. I just hope it doesn’t happen anymore.
Why still subscribe?
October 1, 2007I've heard that Skycable will be removing Basketball TV, Solar Sports, Jack TV and ETC from it's lineup. They'll be replacing the shows with Balls and Velvet channels that we are now seeing on test broadcasts. When I first thought about it, I thought to myself what would be the use of my subscription if these channels were removed. I simply can't find a decent answer. SkyCable is owned by ABS-CBN. We all know that the Kapamilya channel is the big foe of GMA which has ties with Solar Sports, which broadcasts his fights. It's all about money again.
Which provider to we turn to now? Oh well, just apply the typical Pinoy solution of convincing your neighbors to split the bill of a Platinum line and tap the connection.
